About the Undergraduate Nursing Program
The Westminster College Nursing program is known for its excellence. Students earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Students at our Utah nursing school include undergraduates, transfer students, licensed practical nurses and those seeking a second degree apply to the program. 2008 Accreditation Evaluation
The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) will be visiting the School of Nursing at Westminster College April 14 through April 16, 2008 to complete a ten year evaluation for accreditation of the Baccalaureate in Nursing Program. Program Goals
- Provide professional nursing care based on knowledge derived from theory and research.
- Synthesize the theoretical and empirical knowledge from nursing, life, physical and social sciences, and the arts and humanities in the domains of professional nursing practice.
- Apply the nursing process to provide nursing care for individuals, families, groups, and communities in a variety of healthcare settings.
- Accept responsibility and accountablity for the effectiveness of their own nursing practice.
- Influence the quality of nursing and healthcare within practice settings through the use of leadership skills, management concepts, and knowledge of the political system.
- Evaluate research to determine the applicability of research findings in the domains of professional nursing practice.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers and members of the general public in promoting the health and wellbeing of people throughout the life cycle.
- Incorporate professional values with the ethical, moral, and legal aspects in the domains of professional nursing practice.
- Recognize the health needs of today's society and function in a changing healthcare delivery system.
- Apply critical thinking skills in personal and professional transitional situations.
What Else?
You will have clinical experiences in leading healthcare delivery systems, hospitals, clinics and community settings and will be exposed to high-tech equipment, hands-on procedures, and state-of-the-art information technology. Most valuable of all is the experience you will have giving direct care to patients and their families at times when they are the most vulnerable and in need of your expertise.
In addition to college-wide international experiences, students at our Utah nursing school have the opportunity to participate in an international nursing student exchange available with Payap University, McCormick School of Nursing in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Students will have exciting personal and professional experiences immersed in this diverse culture and healthcare delivery system.
