lab guy Citing Sources in CBE Format

Part of using information responsibly is always citing your sources. In Biology journals--and in this class--"CBE", the style established by the Council of Science Editors is commonly used for this purpose.

You can learn about the CBE style by using the print and online resources listed here, such as this guide from Diana Hacker and Bedford/St. Martin's Press. Ask a Librarian if you need help.

You can also try using RefWorks. RefWorks is an online tool that works directly with MSWord to create properly formatted bibliographies and in-text citations for research papers. It takes about an hour to get started using RefWorks, but the time is well worth it if you have a lot of research papers in your future. You can come to the Library for a training session, set up an individual consultation, or view our online introduction and tutorial. After you've gotten started using RefWorks, you can Ask a Librarian if you ever need assistance.
